Gravel > this land is your land

(ideas. research. work.)  I’m writing a new book called American Land to illustrate how most of our national landscapes are not aligned with our nation’s promise – with the idea that everyone is created equal. As I’m writing, I keep thinking about Woody Guthrie’s famous patriotic folk song, “This Land is Your Land,” and when I first learned the story behind it, I began to see our land as both a claim and a challenge.
